Loved the whole week. Brilliant choice of courses and workshops. It will take a lot to top this next year - but I'm sure the committee will be up for it.

From the Chair
I can't believe how quickly the months are flying by. We will soon be counting the days until August and the Writers' Summer School.
It's great to see all your magic swanwick memories.
Monday was World Book Night and some great books were gifted to read and pass on to others to enjoy. The beauty of a book is once you have read it the story is yours forever, so keep writing.

Your Voice from the Vice
One of the many things I love about putting the final touches to the programme is that you can always expect the unexpected at Swanwick.
It's a bit like setting out to create a mouth-watering recipe and then discovering some added ingredients that will make the mix even more delicious.
For example, Fiction (in all its diverse forms) and Non-Fiction (ditto) are two of the core staples on the Swanwick programme.
Naturally, we are covering the basics of both. But we also have the amazing Millie Vigor to inspire us with her 'Never too late' talk on published success in later life, plus practical advice from Maggie Cobbett on how to fund your way to Swanwick by writing all those small yet lucrative fillers much loved (and paid for) by newspapers and magazines.
Then there's the equally lucrative market for Flash Fiction (Alexa Radcliffe), Erotica (Della Galton) and Haunting Tales (Stella Whitelaw), plus non-fiction demand for Family Histories (Roy Devereux), Christian Markets (Chris Wroe), and Copywriting (Lesley Lawson).
Not to mention an unmissable fan fiction makeover for Dickens in his bicentenary year (Fiona Samuel).
If you haven’t booked already, now's the time to do it!
Lots of love, Diana x
Secretary Update
This month has seen a slight move around as my fellow committee member, Fiona Samuel, takes over the reins with the Newsletter. This will give me more time to deal with the other secretarial tasks that continue to grow as August approaches. I am sure you will all join me in thanking Fiona for her time and efforts. I shall now be able to look forward to the Newsletter arriving in my inbox like the rest of you!
This year's 'Win Your Way to Swanwick' competition draws to a close this month. I will be waiting to hear the winning names from Writers' News with baited breath. Watch this space!
Very best wishes,
Xanthe
